The summons from the ED pertains to a case involving alleged contravention of foreign exchange regulations in the run-up to the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan, set to take place on November 25, with results to be announced on December 3.

Vaibhav Gehlot sought the postponement to assemble the necessary documentation dating back to 2011, which he intends to present to the ED investigators, India Today reported.

This development is linked to previous ED raids conducted against the Rajasthan-based hospitality group Triton Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd, as well as Vardha Enterprises Pvt Ltd, along with their directors and promoters, including Shiv Shankar Sharma and Rattan Kant Sharma, among others.

In August, the probe agency conducted searches lasting three days at various locations in Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai, and Delhi.

The ED is particularly scrutinizing Rattan Kant Sharma’s alleged connections with Vaibhav Gehlot, with plans to question him and record his statement under FEMA. It has been disclosed that Sharma was previously a business partner of Vaibhav Gehlot in a car rental company.

During these searches, the ED seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 1.2 crore. This development underscores the ongoing investigation into the alleged foreign exchange violations, with consequences reaching into the political and business realms.
